The Ontario government is providing $9.44 million to enhance and expand services at 14 Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centres (SADVTCs) across the province, ensuring survivors receive comprehensive, high-quality care whenever they need it.

As part of this investment, Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington will receive $96,000 in new base funding for the addition of a Clinical Nurse Team Leader. This role will provide essential clinical leadership, guidance, mentorship, and support to nurses delivering critical services to survivors.

Natalie Pierre, MPP for Burlington welcomed the investment, stating: “This investment in Burlington’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre will provide staff with the support they need to strengthen services and ensure survivors are cared for with compassion and empathy. With the addition of a Clinical Nurse Team Lead, survivors of sexual and domestic violence will have better access to comprehensive care, medical treatment, and counselling in a safe space with trained nurses.”

The funding announced demonstrates the Ontario government’s broader commitment to strengthening community support services, enhancing healthcare infrastructure, and improving outcomes for survivors across the region and the province.

Effie Triantafilopoulos, MPP for Oakville North-Burlington added, “This investment is a vital step in strengthening support for survivors of sexual and domestic violence across Ontario. By enhancing services at our 14 Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centres, our government is ensuring that survivors have access to compassionate, high-quality care when they need it most. The addition of nursing staff and Clinical Nurse Team Leaders will provide critical leadership, mentorship, and guidance, reinforcing our commitment to trauma-informed care. This funding demonstrates our government’s unwavering dedication to supporting survivors and ensuring they receive the care and dignity they deserve.”

These investments build on Ontario’s ongoing commitment to supporting survivors and ensuring accessible, compassionate care across the province. Ontario will continue to stand firmly with survivors, advocating for their rights, safety, and well-being, and working tirelessly to build stronger, safer communities for everyone.
