Friends,

Over the summer months, I spent time visiting members of the community and connecting with local businesses. As we close out August, I hope you were all able to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Fall is in the air and I would like to wish all of the students heading back to school in September a safe and happy school year ahead!

Warmly,

Natalie

Tariff Updates

In the face of tariffs and economic uncertainty, our government is taking decisive action to protect Ontario’s economy.

To help businesses weather the effects of U.S. tariffs, our government launched the $1 billion Protect Ontario Financing Program to provide immediate relief and assistance to the sectors most heavily impacted. Learn more here.

We are also delivering more than $30 billion in other tariff-related supports, including $1.3 billion to expand the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit and targeted initiatives like the Ontario Trade Together Fund and the Trade-Impacted Communities Program to help small and medium businesses facing economic uncertainty.

This remains an evolving situation, and I will continue to keep you informed as new updates become available.

RSV seniors

Our government is ensuring the most vulnerable have access to the services they need to protect themselves and their family during respiratory illness season.

Starting this fall, RSV immunization will now be available through Ontario’s publicly funded RSV immunization programs to all individuals aged 75 and older, building on last year's expansion.

Ontario’s RSV immunization programs for infants, high-risk children, high-risk adults over 60 and everyone aged 75 and older is part of our plan to protect Ontario by preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and complications, especially among those most vulnerable to respiratory infections. Our government is protecting Ontario workers by launching its sixth funding round of the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream, with $260 million now available for innovative projects that support the hiring, training and upskilling of workers. This investment is part of the government’s $2.5 billion investment through SDF to protect Ontario workers by giving them the tools they need to land rewarding, good-paying jobs in manufacturing, healthcare, construction, automotive and other skilled trades, while helping Ontario remain competitive in the face of U.S. tariffs. It was a pleasure to join Deputy Premier & Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Vijay Thanigasalam, and my colleague MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos at Joseph Brant Hospital as work gets underway on our new state-of-the-art Mental Health and Addictions Inpatient Unit.

This project will expand access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care and make an incredible difference in the lives of patients and families in our community.
