Childcare

Disability Support

  • The Child Disability Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment made to families who care for a child under age 18 with a severe and prolonged impairment in physical or mental functions.
  • The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit that helps persons with disabilities or their supporting persons reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay.
  • The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) provides last resort income support for qualifying residents in the province of Ontario, who are above the age of 18 and have a disability. 
  • Apply for Social Assistance Online.
  • Passport is a program that helps adults 18 years or older with a developmental disability to participate in their communities. It also helps caregivers of an adult with a developmental disability take a break from their caregiving responsibilities.
  • Low-income seniors and low-income persons with disabilities can get a Partial Deferral of Provincial Land and Education Taxes.

Social Assistance

Types of Social Assistance

  • If you need help covering essential costs of living or to help find and keep a job, you may be eligible for Ontario Works.
  • The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) provides last resort income support for qualifying residents in the province of Ontario, who are above the age of 18 and have a disability. 
  • Learn how to get short term financial  Emergency Assistance if you are in a crisis or an emergency situation and don’t have enough money for things like food and housing.
  • If you are an adult and you are temporarily responsible for the care of a child who is in financial need, you may be eligible for Temporary Care Assistance on their behalf.
  • If you are a parent caring for a child with a severe disability, you may be able to receive financial support through the Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD) Program.
