Outstanding Burlington Residents Receive King Charles III Coronation Medal

Burlington — MPP Natalie Pierre had the honour of recognizing several outstanding individuals for their exceptional contributions to the community and Canada by presenting them with the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

The recipients were nominated by members of the community for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to service. The Coronation Medal commemorates the ascension of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada and is given to individuals who have made a lasting impact at the local, provincial, or national level.

“It is my honour to recognize these incredible individuals who have worked tirelessly to make our community and country a better place,” said MPP Natalie Pierre. “Their commitment to service is inspiring, and I am grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their achievements.”

Honourees:

Imran Kamal – A Crown Counsel for the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, Kamal has dedicated his career to Indigenous rights, mental health advocacy, and reconciliation. He has worked extensively to destigmatize addiction and mental health issues, particularly within the legal profession.

David Vandenberg – A community leader and philanthropist, Vandenberg has volunteered over 20,000 hours, played a key role in Canada’s first National Action Strategy on Volunteerism, and helped raise more than $750,000 for local charities.

Darlene Halchuk – A Special Olympics advocate and community organizer, Halchuk has been instrumental in coaching and supporting Special Olympians. She also brought the Polar Bear Plunge to Burlington, a major fundraising event benefiting Special Olympics athletes.

Kuljit Bhogal – A business leader and economic advocate, Bhogal serves on the Burlington Economic Development Board and champions women in leadership as Director of Procurement, Sustainability, and HR at BSB Manufacturing Ltd.

“These individuals were nominated by their fellow community members, which is a testament to the profound impact they have made,” said Pierre. “Their dedication and service strengthen Burlington and inspire others to give back.”

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to 30,000 Canadians who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to their communities.
